Gaelle Constant
Stand up comedian
Originally from Belgium, I lived in Luxembourg for 10 years before moving to Sydney for one year. Over there, after months of going to open mic nights every week, with the encouragement of my best friends and my new comedian friends, the 15th of August 2016, I finally took the mic and did my first set. And guess what? People laughed! It was exhilarating. I was hooked. I couldn’t wait to do it again!
I was 33 and had never ever been on stage before. It was supposed to be a one time thing, a tick on a bucket list. 5 years later, I now have performed more than 300 times, in 10 countries and 3 languages. I've also performed my half an hour show and ran comedy workshops.
I performed for 4 months in Sydney before moving back to Luxembourg and its then pretty young comedy scene. I got the chance there to have short spots at pro shows, help organize open mic nights and host open mic nights in English and French.
After 6 months in Luxembourg, in July 2017, I’ve then moved to London where I’m now making my way through open mic nights, working on my set and trying to move on to regular longer spots at shows.
I love travelling and have already taken my comedy to stages in Madrid (where I had to try it in my average Spanish too), New York, Edinburgh, Brussels, Paris, Tokyo, Osaka and Montreal.
I go back the most to Luxembourg where I've been running introduction to comedy workshops for the past year.
My next challenge is putting together an hour show. I've started with half an hour for a split show that I've taken to the Camden Fringe in August 2019 and the Leicester Comedy Festival in February 2020.
